A shadow box card

Hello all, I hope you are having a good day today. I saw a fox from my window this afternoon, rare enough to see one at night but unheard of during the day. Poor thing looked a bit rough, and very salt-and-pepper coloured coat, not at all like Basil Brush.  I just had a moment there where I couldn't think whether Basil, so beloved from my childhood, was actually a fox or a squirrel, he he. Poor brain cell is very foggy today (Rachel, you will know what I mean by that!).

Anyway, some nice news...my country cottage Get Well card, which you can see here, was a Top 3 winner at Aud Sentiments! Maybe I should try male cards more often, lol.

Today's card was another race against time to get it finished, photo-ed and blogged in time to meet a challenge deadline. Make It Colourful, my favourite colouring challenge, wanted us to colour a background this week. Well, I had recently bought this background digi image from Make It Crafty but hadn't yet plucked up the nerve to put Copic to Bristol Board, so I was glad of the challenge to make me have a go.  I can't say it was easy, but it was definitely one of those stretches where you feel you have gained something at the end of it.  I used an outdoor Tilda with it as that seemed suitable.

After colouring the background and my Tilda, I was totally stuck for a layout or a way to begin to make the card. So to distract myself I took a tour of my usual blogs to leave comments, and this is how I came upon Chanelle's great Shadow Box card. I'd seen Rica's tutorial for this make of card a while ago and knew I wanted to try it, but seeing it on Chanelle's blog caused that lightbulb in my head and the idea was born! It's very easy to make and Rica's instructions are excellent and simple to follow, I recommend having a go. I even decorated the inside for once, but this was really CASE-ing Rica's fab card on her blog. So thanks Rica for the tutorial and thanks Chanelle for the inspiration.

This card is going to a friend who is having a rough time and who I think could do with being told she's special, hence the sentiment.

OK, I am waffling because I am so tired, so I'll just post the photos and then go and lie down.....

Ohhh, Miss Carole - you've done it again. I especially like your colouring of the hills and the road in the background image. Very very pretty. Once again I'm stuck between blog hopping and checking out everyone's creativity, or being inspired by pieces like this and running away to my craft room to play. The dilemma!!!

Well, Carole- fancy getting a mention in a post with such a stunning card... even if it was because of the fog!! ;) Did give me a chuckle when I read that, though, strange as it may sound!! :) It's been more like 'peasouper-y' here this weekend hence my not saying Hi til now!! :S
But your card is, as always, truly beautiful!! :) I could sit and stare at your incredible hilly path for ages- makes me yearn for the great outdoors!! :) - and the colours you've used around the images in your papers and flowers are lovely!! :) Think i'll have to investigate shadow boxes further, too :)
hope the fog's cleared now!!
hugs, Rachel x
